Selena Gomez had me nervous for a second yesterday when she tweeted a photo of a flower with the caption ‘he loves me not’
When I imagine a world where Jelena no longer exists, it looks as attractive as Scar’s Pride Rock. No flowers are growing, sweet music never plays and the animals stop singing. This is how my universe would be if Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez broke up.
Alright…I’m not that big of a Jelena shipper, but I do appreciate their relationship quite a bit. I have to admit, I wigged out for a minute yesterday when Selena, 19, posted a photo of flower petals alongside an angsty caption, “He loves me not.” Even though she quickly cleared up what she meant, I suddenly realized I would actually be bummed if Justin, 17, and his perfect Disney darling called it quits.
It took me months to get on board with the relationship (“he’s just too young for her!”), but once I committed, I was 100% behind them. They are so precious together. He’s obsessed with her, she’s challenged by him and they couldn’t be a more attractive pair — it’s definitely a love match.
Justin and Selena have become the teen power couple we always wanted her to be with Nick Jonas. They quietly support each other’s work efforts, have integrated their friends, hang with one another’s families and look amazing in the front row at award shows. (Plus, all their beach PDA is straight out of a romantic comedy.)
Selfishly speaking, I’m not prepared for Jelena to be done yet. They’re the kid version of Brangelina and I love it. Seriously, the last thing I want to have to do is write an “Awkward Ex Run-In” story when Justin and Selena bump into one another at some random premiere.
You hear me, Justin and Selena? Your fans have grown to love you together. You don’t need to get married tomorrow or anything, but stick it out for awhile longer. You’re the new Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears…but unlike them, I hope you have a truly happy ending.
